Tree felling types
Our arborists remove trees using two techniques depending on the tree’s location, health and other factors. Both techniques are highly specialist.
Sectional felling
This is the most common type of tree felling and is sometimes called tree dismantling. Used in built-up and busy areas where there is less space, trees are cut in sections and carefully lowered to the ground to avoid damage to people and the surrounding areas. Our tree surgeons use the latest rigging techniques and equipment.
Straight felling
Straight felling is when a tree is cut at its base and is allowed to fall to the ground in a controlled way. Considerable space is required to complete this type of felling, so it is generally carried out on large properties or woodlands. A notch is cut in the base of the trunk and in the desired direction before baking the back cut through the hinge.
The benefits of tree felling
Trees offer a wealth of benefits to the environment and our health. Many people believe cutting down trees is bad, but this is not always true. Sometimes tree felling can bring benefits to your property and garden.
Improves aesthetics
If a tree is blocking your view or light, removing it can make a huge difference to the appearance and feel of your property.
Enhances safety
If a tree is dead or dying, it could pose a safety risk where it could damage property or people.
Stops disease
If a tree is diseased, tree felling is important to stop the disease from spreading to the nearby trees or surrounding landscape.
